Irgendwo in der unterirdischen „Crystal Lake Research Facility“, irgendwann zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts: Trotz der Bedenken Rowans, einer jungen Projektleiterin, soll das Forschungsobjekt „Jason Voorhees“ von einem kleinen Militärtrupp in ein anderes Labor verlegt werden. Im Jahr 2455 landet ein Forschungsschiff auf der inzwischen zerstörten Erde, sichert die beiden Funde und macht sich wieder auf den Weg nach „Erde 2“, wo die Menschheit eine neue Heimat fand. Rowan kann reanimiert werden, was bei Jason selbstredend automatisch geschieht. Einmal wach, begibt sich der Killer auf eine blutige Jagd nach den an Bord befindlichen Teenagern.
